American Glaucoma Society Family Matters
The American Glaucoma Society is proud to present a glaucoma education program specifically designed for family members of patients with glaucoma.
In certain types of glaucoma, first-degree relatives are up to 10 times more likely to have glaucoma. Unfortunately, a majority of relatives are unaware of this risk.
The program will empower patients with glaucoma to contact their family members to consider getting examined for glaucoma.
This will occur using a QR-code based program that allows patients to send a standard message and specific website directly to family members to prompt them to get examined. The website will provide information and a call to action to find an ophthalmologist near them for a glaucoma examination.
